Last week I had a bout of nostalgia. I grew up in Tsim Sha Tsui but seldom go there now. It is too crowded and no longer has the feel it had when I lived there. As a young boy, my friends and I would often go to the YMCA to swim. We sometimes walked through the Peninsula Hotel’s grand (impressive, magnificent) lobby to watch people having afternoon tea. We, of course, could not afford to have tea there. I went to the Tsim Sha Tsui harbor-front last week to look at the new Victoria Dockside project by New World Development. When I lived in Tsim Sha Tsui I could easily walk across Salisbury Road to reach the harbor-front.
It is impossible to do that now because the morons (idiots) at the Transport Department care more about traffic than people. I had to walk through a maze of subways from the MTR station to reach the harbor-front. The word “maze” means a complicated system of passages. I had a bout of nostalgia when I saw a large picture of the old Tsim Sha Tsui at the K11 Atelier, a mixed-use new building by New World Development. It is part of the Victoria Dockside project. The word “bout” used this way means a short period of activity. For example, you can say you had a bout of flu. The word “nostalgia” means a mixed feeling of pleasure and sadness when thinking about something in the past.
I went through a short period (bout) of feeling pleasure and sadness (nostalgia) when I saw the picture of old Tsim Sha Tsui. Surprise replaced my bout of nostalgia during a tour of the K11 Atelier building. The word “atelier” means a studio or building used especially by artists or designers. The K11 Atelier has a very unusual architectural design. Its mixed use of offices, a hotel, and serviced apartments integrates (combines, joins) art, culture, and offices in one building. I am nostalgic about the old Tsim Sha Tsui but understand cities need to change. I hope all developers will care about art and culture when they replace the old with the new.

例如,你可以說你有 a bout of flu(一場流感)。
